We did a color matching, complementary color, opposite value and opposite intensity project. We started with a fabric and the proceeded to paint the 5 other sections. From the right to the left is the actual fabric, color matching, complementary colors, opposite values, opposite intensity and last is another color matching. Throughout painting this i learned a lot about colors and how to achieve the exact color you want rather than just mixing till it looks okay. My greatest success was the color matching. I struggled with the opposite values because i couldn't believe that the yellow could be that dark. The values made the color darker and only really changed the yellow while intensities changed all of the colors into shades of browns.

(American, 10/20/1999) Title of Piece___________OH DEER____________, 2018 ACRYLIC OH DEER is painted in Lemley’s characteristic style of varying colors and realistic brush strokes. The deer are rendered with lot of color and match the texture of the background. The forest scenery is quite calming and peaceful. The deer represent life in nature. The deer has caught your attention and make direct eye contact as to protect its baby from this unknown creature. This painting is supposed to be anti hunting and calming. The peachy color throughout the painting is to tie the deer into the forest and make them one. Lemley’s work has been associated with Katherine Fraser and Caravaggio. Water color & abstraction:

Abstraction review:
- i experienced freedom in my art. i was more relaxed and able to do what ever than when not doing abstract. -I learned some new techniques with water color and how lines can express emotions and ideas -I gained a sense of closer and ability to tell what happened without words -My favorite technique is glazing. i like the mixing of the colors without making a new color. I used it to show the overlapping ideas in my 3rd painting -My least favorite technique was dry brushing because i feel it looks unfinished and rough -I relate to Kandinsky with all of the colors and some of the lines i use -The final project has me look at emotions as more than separate things but rather things that overlap -In my third piece i used the bleeding and wet look and the harsh lines from the pallet knife and the colors to express the different emotions we feel. when i think of spirituality i think of the little voice in my head and all of the emotions that influence our daily lives. this piece is titled mixed emotions because nothing is simple and separated in my head. What if anything did you experience for the first time throughout this abstraction and watercolor unit? What if anything did you experience for the first time throughout this abstraction and watercolor unit? What if anything did you experience for the first time throughout this abstraction and watercolor unit? |
